Escondido is one of many San Diego County cities that throws bricks of cash at staging DUI checkpoints, attorneys say. Like a number of San Diego towns, their drunk driving roadblocks consume lots of police power while netting very little in DUI arrests.
Friday night’s San Diego DUI Checkpoint in Escondido is no different.
Over 1,200 vehicles were trapped going through Valley Pkwy and Juniper St. Drunk Driving roadblock but only “2” DUI arrests were made for October 24 – 25 2014.
How can the city budget justify this?! They can’t so they rely on California grants hustled by the state Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
