San Diego Union – Tribune reports DUI Police will post driving under the influence DUI checkpoints from 11 p.
m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday at various undisclosed locations around San Diego, say DUI lawyers.
In a news release, San Diego Police say the checkpoint is in response to increased party going in the holiday season.
Those convicted of driving under the influence can face jail time, fees, fines, classes, and other expenses that can exceed ,000.
The agency says that 802 Californians died in 2012 because someone failed to designated a sober driver.
San Diego Police Officer Mark McCullough said in a statement that DUI incidences have hurt locals as well.
“Over the course of the past three years, DUI collisions have claimed 14 lives and resulted in 2271 injury crashes harming 2254 of our friends and neighbors,” he said.
