On January 30, 2015 San Diego DUI deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department San Marcos Traffic Unit and officers of the California Highway Patrol, Carlsbad Police Department, Escondido Police Department, San Diego County Probation Department, Cal-State San Marcos Police Department, and Palomar College Police Department (A.V.O.I.D the 8 on SR-78) staged a San Diego DUI checkpoint in the 1300 block of West San Marcos Boulevard, San Diego DUI lawyers report.
San Diego DUI Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for San Diego DUI Deputies and the public. San Diego DUI /Driver’s License checkpoints lower San Diego DUI deaths and injuries by deterring those who might drive drunk or drugged, by bringing about more awareness, and by encouraging the use of sober designated drivers.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) claims San Diego DUI checkpoints provide the most effective results of any D.
U.I enforcement strategy and yielding cost savings of $6 for every $1 spent.

20 vehicles were impounded and 44 citations issued for violations including driving without a license, driving on a suspended license, allowing an unlicensed driver to drive, and possession of marijuana in a vehicle.
The San Diego DUI / Driver’s license checkpoint was funded by a San Diego DUI grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
