On February 20, 2015, from 7:59 pm until 2:31 a.m., San Diego DUI deputies from the San Diego Sheriff’s Department Lemon Grove Station conducted a San Diego DUI checkpoint in the area of 7900 Broadway, Lemon Grove, San Diego DUI lawyers report. The San Diego DUI checkpoint was staffed by 15 San Diego DUI trained Sheriff Deputies who ended up only evaluating about 10% of all trapped drivers and arresting only about .33% of all motorists, San Diego DUI attorneys report.
A total of 339 vehicle drivers were contacted during the San Diego DUI checkpoint. The San Diego DUI operation resulted in only one single California DUI arrest. Thirty-two (32) vehicles were directed into the secondary inspection area for further San Diego DUI evaluation. Twenty (20) citations were issued for suspended/revoked or no driver’s licenses and five (5) vehicles were impounded during the San Diego DUI operation.
The stated public purpose of the San Diego DUI checkpoint was to remove impaired and/or unlicensed drivers from the roadway, public education and deterrence thereby increasing the safety of all drivers and allowing for a safer driving environment. Funding for this San Diego DUI operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through NHTSA.
